2. What are the challenges that one might face throughout this project?
I think a challenging part would be the “running” of the drive. Good advertisements could lead to more donations, which means we are able to help more families in need. Working on things such as making posters and having a specific reward for reaching a goal might create more motivation within the community.
3. How are the items to be collected?
There are many possible ways, we could place bins in the hallways and have the items dropped off there, or we could go into classrooms and individually collect items.
4. Are these the only items that can be donated?
No, the donation could either be through the finalized list that is going to be used, or money is also an acceptable form of donation.
5. How does this relate to my career?
My career path includes giving back to the people by providing people help through healthcare. I choose this as my service project because it is able to give me a simple outlook of how to give back to struggling communities at my age. it shows me that no matter how simple the items are given through this drive, it might be someone else’s best gift. Through this investigation, it has given the knowledge that isn’t really achievable unless gone through the experience. So far this has taught me to appreciate the little things that I am privileged to have in my life.
6. How are we going to involve more participants and donations?
This drive is going to be a school wide drive, we can promote such activities such as making blankets which is an item that is needed. Because this is going to be a collaboration with the NHS, having after school activities with making such items will also give students service hours, which will motivate others to come in and participate. Another way of promoting participation is by setting a reward after a set goal is reached, this could be also set up as a competition through classes or grades.
