The Process:
Because this is a really big project, I needed to collaborate with an additional organization or club to reach a larger audience. So I collaborated with the National Honors Society/Interact Club, and formed a solid plan on the additional factors that we are going to take on this big project. The main aim of this project is to get as many donations as we can to donate to the Lifting Hands International. This service project was indirect because it goes through a third party, in this case is the "Lifting Hands Organization". I joined the meeting with the NHS officers in order to present my idea and have a discussion to perfect this plan of running a school-wide drive. I presented a point based system, meaning that with each item donated, students will earn points, and with certain number of points students are able to earn service hours. The officers and I also came up with the idea that we make the points also go towards a class competition with a reward for the top three places with the most earned points.
First place: Breakfast sponserd by
Second place:
Third place: Donuts
All these were decided as factors that would motivate students to donate. I designed posters that were posted all through the school hallways, and each class room had several copies of the posters to not only spread awarness of the drive, but to also let students become aware of the different items that could be donated to go for the class competitions.
